The Problem

15 agencies, all competing for one tender

Tendered in mid-2022, NAHL approached Sherwen Studios out of 15 competing agencies with a challenge that required us to act swiftly. They informed us their internal development team would be leaving the business, abruptly leaving NAHL without anyone to support, maintain and develop their network of websites and the AWS infrastructure they were hosted on.

With several company websites, all of which boasting a large proportion of custom functionality, NAHL needed a development specialist who could quickly untangle and comprehend their inner workings to keep their websites functional with a view to continuous improvement to stand them in good stead for the future.

The Solution

Without any official handover, we promptly put together a skilled team to support NAHL through continuous delivery and manage any support requirements.

Audit tech stack

We audited and documented their entire tech stack from the AWS infrastructure to all of the websites and their respective system integrations.

This provided us with a clear understanding of what exactly we were working with, which allowed us to progress onto the next step of continuous delivery.

Define a baseline

With a new series of processes primed and ready, our team began implementing a series of updates and improvements to each website in order to ensure they were in the optimal condition for the future of NAHL moving forwards.

Our main focus being the migration all client websites to the latest CMS and framework versions, along with updates across the entire tech stack.

Recruit internally

Following the success of our developmental support, NAHL expressed their desire to establish in-house capability once more.

This process involved putting developers through their paces by testing their technical expertise – the same process we’ve previously used when recruiting our very own developers, along with documenting the infrastructure and processes to ensure seamless handover.
